If towing never leave shifter in D on almost any vehicle alway put in highest number listed usually the next choice after D the only time to use D is on a flat run at highway speed because D allows Torgue converter lock up or overdrive around town towing or towing on hills in D or drive as you normally would will cause transmission to be confused due to load of towing and slip causing damage
