yes you do... the only thing you have to wait for is when you take your actual drivers license test is your hard license with your picture on it. before that it looks just like your permit just a couple things are differrent. ACTUALY when you go take the drivers test if you can get your gaurdian to wave the test you just have to sign a paper and pass the vision test and you will be able to walk out of there with a legal paper saying you can drive by your self... hope this helps

When will a learners permit expire?

A learners expires the day after your 18th birthday..... but you have a 30 day grace period.(Which means you have 30 days) If your already 18 and just got your learners you have to keep them for 30 days....i'm pretty sure... other than that, if your younger, good luck because i have no clue but will ask at the dmv soon. well, I'm 15 and my Learner's expires on my 20th birthday, and my friends' Learners' seem to do the same.

Can a person with a Maryland learner's permit drive in New Jersey?

The information I have states the following: New York will recognize another state's learner's permit subject to the restrictions printed on it and the New York State restrictions for junior driver licenses under 18. A person with a valid out-of-state license for the vehicle being driven may accompany a junior driver. You may not drive in New York state if you are under 16, even if you are licensed in another state. An out of state learner's permit is "NOT" valid in New York City. In all areas of the state except New York City, Nassau or Suffolk counties, a nonresident licensee under 18 years of age may operate a vehicle from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. when accompanied by a licensed driver over 18 years of age. He may operate a motor vehicle between the hours of 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. only when accompanied by a licensed parent or guardian. Bear in mind that this is from a third party website, and changes to the applicable statutes may have taken place since the above was posted. You should contact the NY DMV to verify the legality of you driving in that state before proceeding with it.

What do you do if you lose your AL learners permit?

Go to the DMV (the place where you received your permit) and get it renewed (I believe you have to retake the test) In New York: You can renew a learner permit only if you passed the written test during the previous two years. This requirement means that you cannot renew a learner permit that was issued more than two years ago. If you passed the written test more than two years ago, you must apply for a new learner permit and pass a new vision test and a new written test. If you are eligible to renew your learner permit, you can renew your the permit no more than 30 days before the permit expires, or no more than two years after the date you passed the written test for your original permit. You must renew by mail or at a DMV office. You cannot renew a learner permit on-line. Most states I think are the same in that you have to re apply, and retake some test or all the tests, you really have to check your stats DMV for how they handle thse things.
