You need all sensors it was designed and built with.
There are actually two oxygen sensors on a 2000 Oldsmobile Silhouette. There is one located in the exhaust system just before the catalytic converter. There is also another oxygen sensor in the air intake tube leading from the air filter.
Upstream oxygen sensors send a signal to the PCM which adjusts the fuel mixture ( air / fuel ratio )
The 1992 Oldsmobile Cutlass supreme has two oxygen sensors. Both oxygen sensors are located on the outside of the air cleaner housing.
Can you show me a diagram of the upstream oxygen sensor on a 3.5l liter Oldsmobile Intrigue engine?
Two, an upstream and a downstream oxygen sensor.
There is a total of 4 oxygen sensors the 2 upstream sensors are located right below the exhaust manifold flanges and above the upstream catalytic converter. The 2 downstream sensors is located in the exhaust pipe, right behind the upstream catalyst, and ahead of the main catalyst.
Only two, upstream and downstream.
There are 2 oxygen sensors on a 2004 Ford Taurus. The oxygen sensors check for the amount of going into the converter.?æ
A 1998 Chevy S10 Blazer has a total of two oxygen sensors. One is used for the upstream and one for the downstream.
There are 4 sensors, though not all of them are technically called "oxygen sensors. There are two that are upstream of the catalytic converters, one on each bank. Then, there are two more, one after each catalytic converter, that are oxygen sensors, but officially they are called catalyst monitors, because that is the job they are assigned to do. To recap, the two before the cats (or upstream), are oxygen sensors, and the two after the cats (or downstream) are catalyst moniters. Although all 4 of them are oxygen sensors, their titles are different.
There are 2 oxygen sensors one upstream and one down stream. Both oxygen sensors are located underneath the van. The down stream oxygen sensor is located behind the cataylic converter near the cross pipe and the upstream oxygen sensor is located in front of the cataylic converter in plain sight. They look like spark plugs with either 8", 12", or 14" wires attached to them. The upstream oxygen sensors is easily located underneath the vechicle to the front. The downstream oxygen sensor is not the one lcoated on or close to the cataylic converter.
Upstream will be the closest to the engine, and are used to sense the air/fuel ratio and tell the computer how much fuel to inject. Downstream sensors are used to verify the upstream sensors and convertors are functioning correctly, so they are located after the convertors.
