Hey!

I recently had a pet gecko of my own. -unfortunately he passed away several weeks ago.

- To tell the truth, yes you do need a licence to keep a gecko

but i never had one :P

the only reason you need a licence is if you purchace the gecko from a pet store, but if you find one, like i did, you don't need a licence (who will know you have it?!)

Bare in mind, you will need a correct size tank, and tank equipment (lights, heat pads, and bedding, live crickets for feeding, water etc)

- Good luck with your new pet!

Hope I could help, Alicia xx

It depends on the species. You could look at the licences of geckos on other websites, but most geckos do not need licenses for that including leopard geckos, crested geckos and some other species.

There are not CITES restrictions when it comes to breeding and selling leopard geckos. However, some states have restrictions as to what can be imported/exported or even the number of animals kept. Check your local CITES restrictions.

Nope. Because if you do, I'm breaking the law, because I have a leopard gecko and I don't remember getting a licence.

No you don't but you have to know how to properly breed them and handle the eggs and you need a incubater.

Marbled geckos are very common in the reptile hobby and there are no CITES laws or protection on this species. Usually a license is required to keep venomous or endangered species.
