Psychiatrists have undergraduate degrees, usually in pre-med or related sciences such as Biology. They then attend four years of medical school to obtain a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree, and serve specialized internships and residencies in psychiatry before being certified.
Psychologists usually have a PhD in Clinical Psychology or similar discipline. Some Social Workers also work as psychological counselors.
