Eli killed his girlfriend somehow but In the promo for next week he has Claire in his car and is on the side of the road and he says "this is where i killed my girlfriend" so I think it was a car accident and he seemed pretty upset about and in the Shark in the water promo when Claire and Eli are in the fortune tellers both she lifts the card that says "lovers" and the card that says "death"
