In deathly hallows harry realizes that he is the final horcrux and that he must die therefore harry goes to the forbidden forest to turn himself in to voldemort and "dies" he has a long chat with dumbledore in heaven and then he returns to life but pretends to be dead. In the end yes harry does live in the end of Harry Potter and the deathly hallows

Because Harry is a horcrux, he gives himself up to be killed by Lord Voldemort. He is, in fact, killed, but it was only the horcrux part of him that was finished off. Harry soon comes back to life and fakes being dead until the last moment when Voldemort claims his (Voldemort's) victory. Harry reveals himself to everyone, including his distraught friends and loved ones, when he stands up off the ground and starts to duel Lord Voldemort. The only way he was able to fake his death is because Draco's mother, Narcissa Malfoy, lies to Voldemort about him being dead (in order to protect her son from this war and way of life).
