BUT, be aware, it actually uses a lot more computer resources, ram, video, etc, then most people think.
It LOOKS like a cheap older game but it brings a lot of entry level or older computers to their knees. Make sure you know YOUR computer can play it. Especially when you start using any mods or texture packs.

You have prob got the 64bit AVG so you could try to get the 32bit version. ( altought it still might not work) OR you could buy Windows 7 and that would work with the 64bit AVG as all Windows 7 systems are 64 bit
I think it has something to do with the architecture being x64 and not x86, not really positive though. Having the same problem on Windows 7 64bit, but it works fine on Windows 7 32bit.

Perhaps your render distance is incorrect. If it's on 'Far', try changing it to 'Normal'. If you are using mods, they may not work with Windows 7.
