Yes. By default, Ubuntu has supported multi processing since Ubuntu 5, due to the default kernel that loads is and SMP kernel. In other words it assumes a system has multiprocessing. If of course you don't, there is no degradation in performance.
Yes. Ubuntu's kernel is SMP-enabled by default. The desktop kernel can handle up to 8 processors / cores, and the server kernel supports up to 64 processors / cores.
The Ubuntu/Kubuntu kernel is configured to support 8 processors / cores in 32-bit and 64 processors / cores in 64-bit.
Yes. The Intel D945GNT motherboard supports dual-core Pentium D processors.
The 32-bit Ubuntu desktop kernel is set to 8 cores. The rest are at 64 cores.
Yes. All versions of Windows 7, including Home Premium, fully support dual core processors (both intel and AMD).
Ubuntu Linux is officially supported on the x86 and AMD64-based processors, and unofficial support is available for Intel IA-64, and PowerPC.
No. The Intel 865 chipset doesn't support dual-core processors.
No
The Intel Atom is available in both single core and dual-core varieties. The following Atom processors are single-core processors:230D410N270N280N450N470Z500Z510Z515Z520Z530Z540Z550The following Atom processors are dual-core processors:330D510
Most computers now come with dual processors.
Technology is rapidly changing to anything is possible. Quad-core processors are next it will be sometime before quad-core processors become the market norm and dual core processors become obsolete.
there are two things you may be talking about here as the two are often confused: 1. Dual processors. in which case, there are 2 separate processors on the motherboard, effectively doubling the computing capacity. There are very few motherboards and cases that support this but one that does is the Mac Pro from Apple. Using dual quad core processors, the computer can utilize up to 8 cores. 2. Dual core. in this case, there is one physical processor which is essentially split in half. this allows the computers to process 2 things at once whereas single core processors can only do 1.
the operating system will now support 2 total processors whether individually mounted or listed as a Dual Core.
