Vicodin® contains two drugs, hydrocodone, which is an opiate that is not the same thing as codeine, and acetaminophen. Acetaminophen is the active ingredient in Tylenol® and it is often abbreviated "APAP" when it is an ingredient of a prescription drug.
Yes, the hydrocodone in Vicodin is the codeine molecule with a hydrogen atom attached. It was first manufactured in the early 1920s by Knoll, a German company, who believed that hydrogenizing codeine might make it less toxic and easier on the stomach. At the same time, the U.S. government was searching for an answer to addiction to cough suppressants that contained codeine. The U.S. Bureau of Social Hygiene gave the National Research Council several
million dollars to study various new compounds like hydrocodone, seeking to
find a less addictive painkiller in 1929.
Hydrocodone has codeine in it but is formulated specially to make Hydrocodone. Hydrocodone is semi synthesized where as codeine all comes from morphine or poppy. Taking any opioid like hydrocodone with another opioid like codeine can be fatal and combining such prescription drugs on your own, even at the smallest amounts can cause side effects including seizures. If you take a look at the chemical formula of Codeine and Hydrocodone it is identical C18H21NO3.

No, it contains oxycodone, a semi-synthetic derivate from codeine (but NOT codeine). It also contains acetaminophen.
I believe you mean "Oxycodone" which is the generic name for Percocet or Tylox. My doctors know I am allergic to codeine; but subscribe Oxycodone, which has codeine, but so does percocet. I am waiting for pharmacist to call me know to let me know if it has the same amount. Percocet does not bother my stomach but Oxycodone does.
no, codeine is an opiate, derived from the opium plant. it is similar to percocet. opiates have the oposite effect of cocaine.
NO..percocet contains oxycodone/Tylenol(acetaminophen) and codeine/Tylenol is a weaker pain medication. They are both opiates..... Codeine is used to treat mild to moderate pain and is also a very good cough medicine...

other options are Tylenol with codeine, darvocet, percocet...
talk to your doctor. you are looking for a low dose of oxycodone or hydrocodone, like brand name percocet or vicodin
No, oxycodone does not have codeine in it. This drug is in Percocet (and others), which is a bit stronger than codeine. I don't know what prescription you (may) have, but often, the Percocet will also have aspirin or acetominophen (Tylenol) in it as well. This is called a "compound" drug because it has two different medications in it.
