Does Vicodin make you hyper

yes! i took less than half of a 10/325 and my pain went away, i felt floaty and relaxed, but also like i'd just drank three large cups of coffee. i cleaned my whole house thoroughly... so yes, vicodin makes me hyper.

I've been on pain meds for serious back problems. Everything from Tramadol to Morphine - hydrocodone and oxycodone seem to be the only two that take away my pain. However, I have sleep issues w both. I tend to stay up ALL night - I'm a retired Navy Vet and I have income that allows me not to work - I earned my BS and got CMA certified (all under the care of pain meds - A student). My only complaint is that I stay awake until the sun comes up - I take my benzo's to sleep or try to sleep w/o them (bad mixture) but I'm tired of being the night owl and day sleeper - I feel like a non productive part of society. I am trying to understand WHY Hydro/Oxycodones make me wired? My only rational thought is that my chemistry (like many others like me) is not programmed to be sedated or Euphoric. I don't care about being Eurphoric, I'm thankful for the affects the meds do for my pain but I'm very frustrated w the fact that I stay awake - I drink wine to assist w sleep (which is very dangerous w these meds) but I'm at my wits end. Are there two types of people out there that respond differently to opiates?

If enough are taken yes. Vicodin induces a numbing effect to your muscles. So when taken excessively it will make you "high"

Vicodin contains an Opioid (hydrocodone, a Narcotic). A side effect of Opioids is sedation, so yes, you would feel sleepy, or tired.
