I began taking Vyvanse June 1st and so far have lost 24 pounds. I was overweight to begin with and needed to loose weight but had a lot of difficulty in the past. I don't think the meds. were 100% to blame for the weight lost because I made an effort to cut calories but it diffinitely helped. I was at a low-normal weight (BMI 19.2) when I started about 6 months ago and I've dropped about 20 pounds. Studies have proven that this medication is linked to weight loss.

∙ 14y agoI can't speak for Lunesta but Vyvanse alone has caused most people to lose weight. In fact I am on vyvanse now and even when I eat like a horse I can't seem to put on a pound! I am a relativly skinny guy to begin with so I try to gain a little weight and vyvanse has made it virtually imposible. I love everything else about the pill though. If the combination on the 2 do cause wight gain I need me some lunesta....
I am 17 years old, and am also on Vyvanse. Before I started taking Vyvanse I was 15, 5'6", and 175 lbs. For some reason the ADHD medications I was taking previously slowed (not stunted) my growth. Now I am 5'10" and weigh 125 lbs. The reason Vyvanse causes weight loss is because it is a type of amphetamine; lisdexamfetamine, to be exact. I also do not like the fact that I can not gain weight no matter how much I eat. The Vyvanse helps with my ADHD much more than the approximately 8 prescriptions I've had before, so I don't really want to switch to another prescription, but would really like to gain weight.

effexor is an anti-depressent. vyvanse is a stimulant. look up side effects of these two categories of drugs for your answer.
