Does a Hawaii teaching license transfer to California?

It depends on what you want to teach, but, in general, if you are fully certified in Arizona, it will transfer to California. You will have to submit your certification and apply for a new one. Additionally, there is a fee. Go to http:/www.ctc.ca.gov and that will tell you everything you need to know.

There could be a reciprocal agreement between the states ( not all states do this and CA doesn't accept many credentials from other states), but if you call the California Teacher Credential office in Sacramento they can tell you. To get a teaching credential in CA you need a 5th year of college to meet the requirements and to take the CBEST test. Most likely they will issue you a provisional credential while you complete any requirements for the CA credential. This should be good for 3-5 years. I will tell you right now that teaching jobs are getting harder and harder to find. Many teachers without tenure are finding they are let go ( without cause) in the first 2 years. Teachers are required to take furlough days are and there is talk to cut the number of teaching days 30 days next year. All of this hits the pay check. This is not the time to come to CA to teach if you can avoid it.
