No but they can under stand what some words mean like there name. When you call a name to a new cat they wontcatch on right away. later in there life they'll notice that this word means there name. they can also notice your pitch in your voice. if you say "good kitty" nicely they will think your praising them. even if your say "bad kitty" in a happy voice they wont understand and think your saying something nice.

Most animals can understand what their owners are saying to them, so cats can undrestand their owners.

∙ 11y agoYes, but there are times where they do not know what we are saying. I call my cat's name and she'll run out of the field (We have a field.) and run to me. When I told her to give me a hug she put her paws on my shoulders. But there are times where I ask her to do something for me and she wouldn't do it.

∙ 14y agoCats are solitary animals, so humans often irritate them. They are not keen to please the way a dog is, so they do not do as they are told or learn commands. When they are raised in an environment with humans [or other cats/dogs/other animals... etc] they grow fond of them [usually] and see themselves as a kind of pack-leader. We are simply tagging along. Mostly cats think of us as bugs, sort of annoying but sometimes nice.
