∙ 10y agoIt's all down to how the stone was cut. Cutting the stone creates varioius angles (called facets) - which allows light to enter the stone, and be reflected back at different angles. Additionally, as the light exits the stone, some remains white, and some split into the colours of the spectrum. This creates the 'sparkle' effect that's seen by the viewer.
