A Physicain is a person who is legally qualified to practice medicine; doctorof medicine.
So the difference is the surgeon does surgery on people and a Physicain practices medicine.

∙ 8y agoYes, you need a medical degree to become a surgeon, a MBChB in the UK or one of two degrees in the United States: the Doctor of Medicine (M.D) degree or the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree. Sometimes they do not carry the title 'Dr' as it is custom that surgeons drop their 'doctor' title after some time in the profession.

Doctors, medically speaking, perform tasks such as diagnosis, treatment and some small sugical procedures (this is by no means all of their tasks). A surgeon is a Doctor Who has specialised in surgery, that is, they are the ones who cut you open to do internal work on the body. A doctor will refer you to a surgeon if they feel it is necessary.
