I've have put a bird in a ferret cage, but the bars were too far apart and the bird could get out. You would have to make sure the bars are close together and the bird has a perch (I used a small tree branch)

∙ 13y agoA ferret does not necessarily have to have a cage, but would need to be in a very ferret proofed environment. Ferrets are prone to accidents or injury because of their curious, burrowing nature to get into places. If you do not cage your ferret, at least have a travel carrier in case they need to be confined for some reason.

∙ 12y agoA rabbit cannot co-inhabit the same cage with a ferret. The ferret would probably kill the rabbit.
Ferret cages are too small for rabbits, even a single dwarf rabbit.
As a MINIMUM, a rabbit cage needs:
- litter box
- comfy resting surfaces (especially NO wire floorings)
- hay supply
- water supply
- "nest" area/hidey-hole (can be as simple as a clean, plain cardboard box with holes cut in two of the sides; or it could double as the litter box, if there's a lid and you cut a second hole in one side -- rabbits need two exits to feel safe)
- a few toys/structures/diversions
- enough room left over to stretch out, stand up on hind legs, and hop a few paces
You need to let your rabbit out for exercise, play, and socializing for at least four hours a day.

∙ 13y agoIf the cage is spacious enough for ferrets, and they cannot get through the bars, and the floor is covered. Ferret damage their paws in cages with wired floors.

∙ 13y agoA cage for ferrets is not really tall enough for a rabbit, also ferrets are natural predators of rabbits (weasel) so if the cage smells like a ferret your rabbit is going to be very nervous!
