Like almost every other living thing on this planet, fish are affected by light. In the Seas, some rise in the dark to feed. When you turn on the tank light with neon tetras, it takes a few moments for them to bright up. Humans battle Circadian jet lag. Constant light or darkness in prison is considered a violation of basic human rights. So why deny our lessers the same consideration? Major aquariums have a distinct day/night lighting program. Take the hint.
