It depends on the design of the foil. The foil shaver you refer to is probably a reicprocating shaver with blades that move from side to side. The holes tend to be larger and so skin irritation and shaver burn can result. The rotary shaver is likely a better choice depending on your particular choice.
Yes we have an "axe to grind" - or rather a blade to grind - as we suggest you look at the Hair eRazor which is the best value and has most advanced features in body shavers.
The foil head is usually thinner on a reciprocating shaver than the foil on a rotary shaver. Therefore the reciprocating shaver usually gives the closer shave.
However thin foils are more easily damaged... thus a rotary shaver usually cuts for longer than a reciprocating electric razor. A rotary razor usually needs the heads changed every 2 years. Foils on a reciprocating razor seem to last about half as long... they are also more prone to accidental damage.
Both types of blades are expensive to replace and the cost often exceeds the cost of a complete razor.
One advantage of the reciprocating foil is that it seems to be less prone to clogging.
The new linear magnetic drives on reciprocating razors give the best shave among the reciprocating razors. Philips seems to do the best and cheapest rotary head razors.
There are two types of electric shavers; rotary blade or foil shaver. The foil used in the Braun shaver uses a series of knives located under a metallic foil. The foils purpose is to raise the hairs and guide them into the knives.
It is where the cutting blades are covered by a foil that can be femoved for cleaning. I added a link below to a page that shows shavers. The 4th shaver down the list is a BRAUN. It is a foil shaver.
One can buy a replacement Braun foil for an electric shaver on Amazon or Ebay. Here one can either bid in an auction or buy the foil outright at very low prices.
The round large foil wrapped ones are ring dings.
No idea how much they're worth, but I've got one and would like to know if anyone still sells a replacement blade/foil unit. My first and best shaver, but unable to use it since the foil bit started breaking up.
It doesn't really make a difference. The only way to get a better signal is if you are closer to the person you are connecting with...
Ring-Dings (east coast) or Ding-Dongs (west coast).
Yes, there is individual men's foil, men's team foil, individual woman's foil, and women's team foil.
Cooking foil is like regular aluminum foil. In summary, cooking foil and tin foil alike are good conductors of heat AND electricity.
