A lot of people will say lion , however they are wrong because they are just stupid lion fans that know nothing about a tiger's advantages. The tiger will win because it is stronger! heavier, more agile, bigger, has longer canines, is a better fighter, is smarter, and is not lazy and waits for females to hunt. Tigers rule and lions suck

Reliable Answer: (See list of sources below)

Both of these animals are powerful and fierce carnivores. But scientists say that in a fight between a Bengal tiger and an African lion, there is a 90% chance that the tiger will win.

It is a well-known fact that tigers are the biggest cats in the world. Not only this, but tigers are noticeably more muscular, and better fighters. It is actually a myth that lions are better fighters than tigers, because tigers compete with each other for territory just as much as lions fight for a pride. Tigers also have experience fighting with many animals; Bengal tigers can easily kill large crocodiles and black bears, and Siberian tigers have been known to attack and kill huge adult brown bears. Tigers have been noticed as better fighters because they are more swift, agile, feirce, and have better eye-coordination. They have a stronger jaw force and paw-swipe. However, it is not true that tigers have longer fangs than lions. The skulls of these two cats have been compared, and usually their canines are about the same.

The term "King" comes from the fact that a lion's mane looks like a crown, and the fact that they rule a pride. A lion's mane can offer it protection from bites to the neck. This is especially helpful when facing hyenas, which have a very deadly bite. However, a tiger will not always go for the lion's neck, but instead will usually attack it's limbs, eyes, head, and face. And the difference between the two cats' lifestyles adds on to which is more intelligent: Living a solitary life results in the tiger being more cunning. The tiger also hunts larger prey than the lion. The largest prey that lions hunt is the African buffalow, a species of African cattle. Tigers, however, are exelent at hunting guar, which is the largest type of cattle in the world. There are also differences in the way the two animals fight. Lions tend to stand on three legs, and use one paw to fight. Tigers normally balance on their hind legs and use both front paws to fight, giving them a huge advantage. Tigers also use "trickery", keep their heads back, and use well thought-out moves when fighting, while lions are known for blindly charging. Another important feature in how well the animals fight is the way their bodies are built. Lions are built more stiffly than tigers, and their bodies are more compact. Lions sometimes appear more muscular in the forelimbs, but tigers simply have more fur covering their muscles, so they are harder to see. Tigers also have more flexible muscles then lions.

The lion DOES have an advantage though: courage. Lions are braver, and less likely to back down from a fight. There have been reports of tigers submitting to lions when they meet in reserves, so they can avoid injury. But if the lion refuses to leave the tiger alone, than the tiger is probably going to end up victorious. Within the Bengal tiger scientists found a most disturbing ferocity. When it comes to the decision to fight, this cat attacks violently, most often winning in any fight against a lion.

In the end, the tiger's agility and accuracy comes out on top. 80% of experts agree that the tiger is the dominate cat. But not only National Geographic reporters say so. There are many polls on the internet where people can vote on who theythink would win, and one can see that many more people bet on the tiger than the lion.

Animal Planet tried to prove that the lion was a better fighter, but they eventually submitted to National Geographic, which is a bigger company. They admitted to National Geographic that they simply perfered lions over tigers.

Yes it does because a tigers head is like a jaguars head. and a Jaguar has a kind of round head which holds more muscle in it. A tigers head is like the same, so a tiger has a stronger bite force than a lion. Even tho a tiger has 30 teeth that's all it needs to kill almost any prey it attacks.

Who has the hardest bite tiger or lion?

By Tigress4324: Well, you have to look at the shape of the cat's skull. The truth is, lion's and tiger's skulls have been compared, and they are very much alike, the difference is somtimes only noticable to experts. Lions have slightly longer skulls, and tiger's are wider. The wider the skull is, the more force will be applied to a bite. This is because the area of force is concentrated more, and not spread over a long length. This would give the tiger a stronger bite. Some animals with long skulls, such as crocodiles, have extremely strong jaws. BUT: crocodiles and cats are completely different animals. If you compare a shark with a croc, (the shark has a wider mouth, the croc's is longer) you will see that the shark's jaws are much stronger, thus supporting this law of bite-phisycs.Shark bite is only 700Ib. Crocolides bite is 3000Ib.Sharks bite is 4 times weaker than crocodiles. And there's more: if the fangs are placed farther into the skull, they will be in the jaws more firmly, and the animal's jaws will be stronger. ( a good example of this would be the hyena, which has a deadly strong bite.) Tiger's canine teeth are held father into the skull than lion's are. The result is that tigers have a stronger bite force than lions.

What is the power of the lions jaw?

A male lion's bite was read at 1370Ib. In another test the bite was 1442Ib.A lioness bite was 825Ib and then 1050Ib. WHAT???Those were the top bite forces, but usually their bite force is 1000-1200IbsAccording to the "animal face-off" series, a male lion has a bite force of 1000 pounds. This is equal to 453 kg, and it means that it can cut through bone. There are indeed cases of male lions that pierced through the skulls of other male lions with their canines, during territorial fights. The tiger has also the same bite force. In the "animal face-off" series, it was stated that scientists have developed a statistical formula to measure the bite force; Bite force = 2 (M x m+ T x t) / Length U, according to which, the bite force for both the lion and the tiger is 1000 pounds. However, the bite force is not the same for all lions (and tigers). It depends on the size, strength, age (etc) of the particular individual. Brady Barr measured the bite force of a small male lion that lived in the wild at 691 pounds (313.43 kg). That particular lion was not fully grown and also not very muscular (quiet thin lion), apart from the fact that it was clearly hesitating to bite the bite meter too hard, for fear of breaking its teeth. Generally speaking, the largest and strongest lions are those that live in the Ngorongoro Crater, in Tanzania (with the exception of the few barbary lions that still exist). Hyenas have greater bite force than lions, however a lion's bite is more devastating than a hyena's bite, because of the larger teeth that a lion has.A lion can bite about 400 pounds in force. However, this typically depends on the gender, species, and age of the lion.600 to 1000 pounds per square inch...Lions should be able to exert at least 900lbs per square inch. Over three times the bite force of an American Pit bull terrier, which have massive biting force, or stronger than two wolves biting force COMBINED.Tigers can bite with over 1,000lbs of force PSI. Even more deadly... to equate to such a force, you can have a Hummer run over your arm and a lion's bite would STILL hurt more and cause more trauma.NOTE: Do not have your arm or ANY part of your body lie while ANY vehicle goes over you. This is a warning to any who are dumb enough to try this. Very serious consequences to this.

Has a stronger bite force lion or tiger?

Tiger (1,050 psi) They are the largest big cat, and with a bite force of around 1,050 psi, they bite almost twice as hard as lions do. Perhaps that's why lions hunt in packs to take down their prey, while tigers are perfectly content — and efficient — flying solo.

Who will win - wolf or lion?

The lion no doubt. Even though the wolf has a higher bite force than the lion, still won't help him. We saw a video of a cougar killing a lone wolf. Imagine how a bigger and stronger lion would do. The lion has a larger and fatter canines and long sharp claws. A wolf's skull could fit into lion's mouth. Wolf has 406 lbs bite force and hyenas has 1000lbs of bite force and lion kills hyena easy.
