Energy levels in atoms are somewhat like aircraft flight lanes in the sky - these exist as the places that aircraft are permitted to be, whilst not being permitted to be anywhere else. The flight lanes exist whether or not a plane is in it, but there is nothing to see.

Similarly, an energy levels exist in atoms as the only places where electrons may sit, but there does not have to be an electron in the energy level for it to exist.

Yes; while smaller atoms may or may not have completely filled 'orbitals', the inner orbitals [1s, 2s and 3p orbitals] are fully engaged in all larger atoms.

1S, 2S, 3P are energy shells, also called orbitals. Each is representative of its own specific energy levels. In general, the number of protons contained within the atomic nucleus determines the 'energy-level-structure'. Atoms with incomplete electron shells are termed Ions.

The energy required to remove an electron from a neutral atom is the atom's?

The energy required to remove an electron from a neutral atom is the atom's ionization energy. It represents the amount of energy needed to remove the most loosely bound electron from an atom in its gaseous state.

Energy stored in the nucleus of an atom is called?

Energy that is stored in the nucleus of an atom is called Atomic Energy or nuclear energy.

The energy needed to completely remove a hydrogen atom from an oxygen atom is called?

bond energy

Why is atom energy called atomic energy?

because it is from an atom. think about it atom-ic. not that hard of a concept

When energy goes into an atom is light produced?

When energy is absorbed by an atom, the electrons in the atom can jump to higher energy levels. When they return to their original positions, they release the extra energy in the form of light. This is how light is produced in an atom.

What do you call an atom if you move an electron in an atom from a low energy level to a higher energy level within the atom?

no , it only emits energy if it moves from a higher energy level to a lower energy level.

What is the energy state of an atom?

The energy state of an atom refers to the specific energy level that an electron occupies around the nucleus. Electrons can exist in different energy states, or orbitals, depending on the amount of energy they possess. The energy state of an atom is fundamental in determining its chemical and physical properties.

What does t he energy levels of an atom hold?

The energy levels of an atom hold electrons.

Is energy is conserved when an atom emits a photon of light?

Energy is ALWAYS conserved. The appropriate sum of mass and energy is always conserved. If an atom emits a photon, the atom has less energy/mass, and the universe minus that atom has more energy/mass. It's like carrying some energy from here to there.

How does the energy of a photon compare in difference in energy levels of the atom from which it is emitted?

The energy of a Photon is equal to the difference in the energy level of the Atom that it came from.

The energy required to remove electrons from an atom is called?

The energy required to remove electrons from an atom is called ionization energy. It is the minimum energy needed to remove an electron from a neutral atom in the gaseous phase.

Does an atom's nucleus hold a large amount of kinetic energy?

According to The Secret, Yes. An Atom does contain energy. every thing that can move contains energy known as Kinetic Energy.
