In theory Autism is more common in boys than in girls, the ratio is around 4:1.

In some cases Autism can be linked with specific male-only genetic conditions, thus why Autism was originally considered a male-only condition. However the more we understand Autism the more we come to realise that girls display symptoms differently to boys, also how girls are socialized can make it easier to hide symptoms or can mean professionals can often miss symptoms.

Autism occurs more commonly in boys than girls. The reason is unknown.
