left handed people live in a world designed by right handed people. left handed people do have a reduced life expectancy due to increased incidence of accidents.

i am colourblind. i choose not to drive in towns i do not know after dark unless i have a wakeful passenger. i have lost count of the number of times i have not seen traffic lights because i was concentrating on the road or traffic.

traffic lights are all the same colour and the same colour as streetlighting. in the dark traffic lights are just another light in one's peripheral vision.

i can't see sunburn, or bruising, or blushing, or red warning lights on car dashboards. these deficiencies put me at a disadvantage.

Color blindness has both little and extreme affects on a persons life. Depending on the level of blindness, they may not have any problems on a personal level. The more extreme of this would be inability to shop in any situation that used color coding for specific tasks and color coordination. In that persons professional life, they are severely punished for their lack of color vision. Many employers have a policy regarding color blindness that is usually pretty cut and dry: color blind equals immediate disqualification. Examples would include Law enforcement, electrician, EMS, Pilot, train conductor, Some Military jobs including aforementioned, and the general discrimination by the general public that sees color blindness as not being able to see any color at all, which is untrue, as such a condition is actually very rare.
