Pain is relative and you have to consider that you ARE sticking a steel spike through a muscle and then putting a DIFFERENT steel bar in there to keep the hole open. In general tongue piercings hurt less than most others, but they are still painful.
-When I got mine pierced I was surprised how little the actual piercing hurt. I've bit my tongue causing much more pain than the piercing did.
The worst part is that your tongue will be very swollen and sensitive for anywhere from a couple days up to maybe a week. I was pretty much on an apple sauce and oatmeal diet for like 2 solid days after my piercing and had to be careful while eating for another few days.

∙ 12y agoIt depends on you. Many people said it wouldn't hurt, and that it didn't hurt them, but when I did it, it hurt. But it was only for a second and I got over it pretty quick.
It's the healing that really hurts for 3 days to a week.
I got my tongue pierced and it didnt hurt at all but it depends on how you handle pain... my friend said she almost passed out.. but like i said the piercing itself didnt hurt but for the next 3 day it was really swollen and tender... and you should only eat soft foods until the swelling goes down.. other than that you'll be fine! GOOD LUCK!!!
it does not hurt in the slightest especially i assume if your piercer numbs it :) it may take a day or two to adjust to eating properly but its all fine to do so and dont worry about swallowing the balls its impossible if your piercer has screwed them on properly

∙ 12y agoI got my tongue peirced two days ago..It honestly did not hurt! I felt a lot of pressure as the needle went through but it wasnt exactly painful. I freaked my self out by looking up a whole bunch of stuff on the net the night before but I decided to go ahead with it anyways and Im so glad I did :)
It hasn't swelled at all, doesnt hurt at all and i have been able to eat pretty much anything. I say if you wana get it done,don't let people talk you out of it, go for it! :P

∙ 12y agoGetting your tongue pierced is a major decision. It hurts very very bad. NEVER do it yourself. Please, if you are wanting to get your tongue pierced, go to a professional. But, yes it does hurt.
...no it don't i have had mine done twice now cause i had to let it close up for school but don't EVER do it your self there is a major vain in your tongue but it doesnt hurt that bad only for a min

∙ 12y agoNot at all. The process is quite simple and painless. Once the needle enters your tongue, you will fill a little mosquito bite and that's all. Nothing major or extreme.

What piercing hurts the worst?
I think that everyone is different when it comes to pain in piercings. I have 4 in one ear, 3 in another, my nose, my tongue, and my navel all pierced. For me getting the actual piercing done on my navel hurt the most, however my tongue hurt the most AFTER I had it pierced due to swelling. But I hear that the most painful are nipples or any kind of genitalia.

ummm it kinda depends if he knows what he is doing or not. EX. If your boyfriend isn't a good kisser he might bite your tongue and that will hurt. OR he might be great to you and but he might not really be use to the ball in his mouth. So it kinda depends if its comfortable for you....If your tongue feels good to you then I say go for it.

noo its really slow and very painful.. its better if you do it yourself, you have a less chance of an infection, you can put it were you want and it won't hurt as bad.
