I feed ducks on my lake and have for years...in my expereince just accidental biting when taking food doesn't hurt at all unless it's by a large Muskovy. I have a huge one here and he got to the first knuckle taking food. Now that hurt. Glad there's no teeth involved. LOL. Never had that rare opportunity of an angry bite.

Ducks use their bills to drink, eat even breathe as they have nostrils on their beaks. Ducks also use their bills to make noise, to preen (clean feathers or other parts of the body), even bite! (my pet ducklings used to bite my fingers but it didn't hurt obviously :P) I think ducks regurgitate, and if they do, they also use their bills for that! Bill is a beak by the way :).

no they don't bite. actually they do . small dragonflies bite but you can't feel it , emperor dragonflies bite and it does hurt but it is not as painful and has a strong grab . I agree with F117nighthawk. They do bite, it dosn't hurt, but it freaks you out.
