I am 4 weeks post-op (love handles and abs) and just now I am experiencing the pins and needles feeling. I slept (or atleast tried to) for the first time last night without the compression garment and I won't be doing the same tonight. I go for massages every other day, both ultrasound and hand, and they still hurt like crazy. Today was number 18 and I think I'm going to wait for the nerves to finish "waking up." The results are incredible, I had 16 pounds removed (I'm 6'2"), and the love handles are gone, as well as the belly. Would I do it again, yeah, but would dread it greatly. Not to say that misery loves company, but I feel much better to know I am not alone in this long and slow recovery.
Many Plastic Surgeons choose to carry out Liposuction under general anaesthetic, especially if therevare large volumes of fat to remove. In this case the procedure itself will be painless. You can expect some bruising and swelling after the operation which will be uncomfortable for a while.
Modern liposuction equipment such as Laser asiisted liposuction or vaser liposuction is developed to be performed under local anaesthetic with or without sedation. This means that you will not be completely asleep for the procedure.
In most cases these procedures are well tolerated by the Patient , but you may feel a little discomfort as the local anaesthetic is bring administered.

The actual procedure, along with any will be painless, as you are put under anesthesia. After, however, you may feel mild to moderate pain. Luckily, pain killers are prescribed to treat the pain you may feel after for up to 4 weeks.
Liposculpture is another term for liposuction. A doctor uses a marker and draws on the patient's body where the fat will be sucked out through a pump. Liposculpture is common even with women who are not overweight.
Liposuction, like any other surgery, does have some risks associated with it. However, most people will be fairly comfortable and safe during such a procedure.

Cosmetic surgery has become increasingly popular over the years. Almost 9 million people underwent cosmetic surgical procedures in 2003, compared to slightly more than 400,000 in 1992. About 45% of the cosmetic surgery procedures performed in 2003 were repeats. And 32% of the patients having cosmetic surgery had multiple procedures done at once. Liposuction was the second most popular cosmetic procedure (nose reshaping is slightly more popular). In 2003, approximately 320,000 people had liposuction procedures. This comprises about 4% of all cosmetic procedures performed. In 1992, only 47,000 had liposuction, about 3% of all cosmetic procedures performed. Only 10% of liposuction patients in 2003 were men. In 1992, 13% were men. About 68% of women and 58% of men questioned during a phone survey said that they approve of cosmetic surgery. But only 19% of the women and 7% of the men surveyed admitted that they have had or would have cosmetic surgery themselves. (These statistics are taken from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons website at www.plasticsurgery.org.)

There is no such thing as non surgical liposuction. There is laser liposuction, which has less surgery, and liquifies the fat before it's drained out, making it less painful.
