Listerine, named after the British surgeon Joseph Lister, is mouthwash that kills 99.9% of bacteria in your mouth. Listerine mostly uses its high alcohol concentration to kill bacteria. Yet, some say it kills 0% instead.

No, Listerine does not kill germs. In my university my class had to do an experiment to see if listerine kills germs and in conclusion it didn't, all the samples of saliva were the same, before and after the use of listerine.

DOES Listerine work?. It helps keep your teeth turn freshly white after brushing 'em. Drink the listerine mouth wash and just feel the cool mint and the tricks. Then your teeth are the most shining cleanest's of them all. It really works.
