Use soap, not body wash. Body washes moisturize your skin and help keep the tan. Soap will make it fade fast. Also, try not moisturizing with lotions until the tan fades.
It will not help you tan, but it will moisturize your body from what I hear will help you lock in your tan.
Cocoa butter and aloe vera gel are pretty good at helping to keep a tan longer.
You can improve suction it by moisturizing it's edges, this makes it stick to something longer and stronger.

Obsidian by Designer Skin, it has 30 bronzers in it, it gets you dark FAST. Also has ingredients to help keep your tan for longer. The bronzers do not turn you orange. I love this lotion.
Get a Tan Extender Lotion. Bath and Body Works has one. "After Sun Tan Extending Lotion" It will make sure your tan wont fade! Try a tanning lotion or spray. But be careful how much you much you use or you might turn orange.
