Parvovirus is extremely contagious and can be spread from dog to dog by both direct and indirect contact with their poop.

The virus is VERY hardy, it can survive outdoors in dog poop and other organic material for over a year, in both extremely cold and hot temperatures.

Yes, parvo virus is contagious. Any dog who is sick with it should be confined and kept apart from other dogs. Also, any bowls, toys, bedding, etc. used by the sick dog should be washed with hot water and bleach (or other anti-viral disinfectant - check the label) to prevent reinfection of the sick dog, and to help prevent spread to other dogs. Anyone handling the dog, or any objects used by the dog, should wear gloves, change their clothes, and clean their shoes with bleach/disinfectant, and wash any exposed skin thoroughly before handling other dogs or moving about the "clean" portions of the house. Check with your Vet for any other precautions they would recommend.

Yes. The parvovirus can and does kill young puppies and even older dogs. Google it and educate yourself on the symptoms if you think a dog you know has parvo - it is very serious and can be transmitted to other dogs.

Yes, you want to keep dogs that have fleas and dogs that don't far away from each other. They spread from animal to animal easily and can even spread to humans.
