Distance. A negative diopter (-1.5) is for distance and a positive diopter (+1.5) is for close-up/reading. The higher the number, the worse the vision. (Ex. -3.75 is worse than -2.50 and +4.00 is worse than +1.75)
Those numbers are near sight perscriptions. The lower the number, the more "unfocused" or worse the vision is. If the number is positive, then it is a far sighted perscription, which is used in reading glasses. Hope this answered your question =) -A 14 year old girl with minus 8 vision. Myopia stinks =(

I have no idea what you just said.....but it probably has to be corrected if your vision is 20-70 or worse. Or they may tell you to drive safely.

Generally, the more of your senses you can use while learning something, the more likely you are to retain it. So reading it out loud invokes both your vision and hearing versus silent reading which only uses vision.
