It all depends on the amount of Codiene and the amount of alcohol. Although it is advised on the pill bottle and recommended guidelines when you receive your prescription to try and avoid alcohol while on your medicine because alcohol increases the sedative effect which can be lethal at high doses.

So, in moderate doses of both it can be a pleasant experience but, be careful and do not use in excess because it could prove to be fatal.

I'm not sure if taking codeine with alcohol will make you thirsty or not, but you should NOT be combining these two agents in the first place.

A combination of codeine and alcohol can result in the depression of the central nervous system, impaired judgement, thinking, and psychomotor skills. In more severe cases, mixing codeine with alcohol can result in respiratory depression, hypotension, profound sedation, or coma.

In the case of an overdosage of codeine and alcohol, death can occur.
