Yes,..it's very possible. A reputable artist will have been through a training course on bloodborne pathogens and how to prevent contmination / cross-contamination. The process of tattooing involves breaking the skin, thus opening sterile parts of the body to an otherwise unsterile atmosphere. If in doubt , ask about the artists credentials, if he is "on the level" , he /she will be more than happy to show you certification.

The Only way you could get AIDs from a tattoo is if theneedle they used on you... was used on someone else who was infected with AIDs.... But in this day and age Negligence could shut down an entire business so they are careful and use new needles and have to open them in front of you to prove that it was never used and it sterile
Tattooing may spread HIV if not done correctly. HIV is spread through contact with infected blood, semen, vaginal fluid or breast milk. Tattoo equipment must be properly cleaned and new needles must be used with each different client. If necessary safety procedures are not followed, HIV infection could be transmitted.
If the shop/ piercing material isn't sterile or has been used on someone else before you, then yes. There's a possibility
(so no to piercing guns and please research and visit your professional to make sure they're reputable.)
Normal routine infection control procedures used by reputable tattoo artists are enough to prevent the transmission of HIV. Sharing needles for tattoos, piercing, or drugs may transmit HIV.
There are always potential risks however in a licensed and inspected Professional Body Piercing facility the risks are nil to nonexistent due to the strict regulations and guidelines that these studios must maintain in the interest of public safety.
