Well pretty much yes...it's sad but true we rely on it so much that with out it we go nuts, so thus giving technology a form of power over us. Also with out it the world wouldn't be what it is.

It depends on what you mean.

If you mean literally, that tech in the form of computers and robots will rise up like Skynet and the Terminators, not likely. As capable as we can make computers, one component of them that will forever stymie the search for Artificial Intelligence is the fact that they are digital. That fact alone will never allow computers to become self-aware. Digital computers are slaves to their programing, and anything that falls outside of that programing is beyond their ability to address. Such situations actually result typically in freezing digital components into a loop.

If you mean metaphorically, as in continually advancing technologies will lead humans into a better tomorrow, well perhaps. So far technology has given humans as much as it has taken away. Boon and bust simultaneously.

Technology is only as good as the purpose to which it is put, and the manner in which it is used.
