well my friend it is quite easy to explain. The diaphragm is the section of our body that separates the Thorax from the Abdomen. There is a special hole in the diaphragm to let our food and etc. pass through. It is found that you are able to create a build up of air with your diaphragm which would help you to project your voice better. This doesn't mean that you have to have a good diaphragm to be a good actor but rather that it helps you a little more, unrecognizable by the human ear.
---Forgive me if my thesis is wrong as i am taking a very educated guess which could be wrong or write...its up to you to test it out, i am simply suggesting a reason---

To talk from your diaphragm, take a deep breath through your nose, allowing your belly to expand as you fill your lungs with air. As you speak, engage your diaphragm by pushing the air out slowly and evenly while controlling the flow of your voice. This technique helps produce a more powerful and resonant voice. Practice speaking phrases with emphasis on sustaining the airflow from your diaphragm for better control and projection.
The diaphragm and the intercostals are muscles that help breathing. When you excerise they work harder because it is harder to breathe.
The dome-shaped muscle beneath the lungs is called the diaphragm. It plays a crucial role in the breathing process by contracting and relaxing to help with inhalation and exhalation.

Learning to sing does not change the quality of your voice, but will teach you how to speak louder and project by using your diaphragm.
In theater, projection helps because, without a microphone, the people in the last rows will not be able to hear you well, so in order for them to hear you better you project your voice using your diaphragm. This doesn't mean yelling or screaming out but to make your voice stronger and louder.
