Depends on the GPS device. Although ALL of them do have the raw data received from the satellites in order to calculate it, you would have to to consult your specific device to know if it will to provide the user with that information. It receives time data from many satellites and according to the time it took from the data to get to the device ( always some milliseconds), it calculates the distance from each one of them.
