Basically, a "relay" is a switch. When you push the horn button you're triggering the relay which in turn feeds power to the horn.
The turn signal relay and the flasher relay are the exact same thing. The relay switch controls the turn signals.
No. there is no relay for the turn signals.
If the relay has malfunctioned, yes.
It has a flasher relay for the signals only.
Check the turn signal relay. The four way flasher and the turn signals each have their own relay. It has a fuse for the turn signal
Your turn signals and hazards use separate flashers. Your hazard flasher might have bitten the dust. FriPilot sounds like the horn/horns arent working. also sounds like the hazard switch is inop
Defective Flasher Relay, replace it. One relay operates the Hazard Lights and the other operates the turn signals. Be sure and replace the correct one.Defective Flasher Relay, replace it. There are two relays, one for the emergency flasher and one for the turn signals. Replace the Flasher Relay for the turn signals, it is defective.
The flasher relay is defective. Replace it.
A relay is a device that uses a small control current to switch a larger current. So the horn button (small current) turns on the relay which in turn energizes the horn (heavy current device).
My research to date finds that the turn signals and hazard signals are controlled by a common relay. That relay is behind the hazard relay switch. My 2002 Audi A6 has the same symptoms you describe, and I will be removing the hazard switch to get at the relay for replacement. Good luck.
The turn signals on a 91 caprice do not work, the emergency flashers do.
If the turn signals in the dash don't work, what about the outside front and rear turn signals? Working? Not working? If it's not working, replace the turn signal relay under the dash.
to the right of the steering wheel there is a fuse cover and 3 or 4 relays, turn hazards on and feel which relay is clicking, if relay not working, its the tall looking relay,
not fuses or relay?
change the flasher relay
Defective Flasher Relay.
if it has turn signals and a head light horn
Most common cause of the turn signals not flashing is a defective flasher relay. Replace it.
The wiring for the horn goes from the horn to the relay then to a box located unde the dash which in turn connects to your horn pad on the wheel in the car
If the turn signal lights come on but will not flash you have a defective flasher relay. Replace the relay.
