Best Answer

the earths atmosphere is not heated by the sun. The suns light comes in through the atmosphere. 25percent of it is lost through reflection and then 50percent is used to heat the surface of the earth. XD

Radiation is the method which transferred heat via electromagnatic waves.no medium is need to transfer the transverse waves that carry electromagnetic energy.this energy can radiate from its source scross empty space.

convection transferred heat by movement in fluids[gas, liquid]caused by difference in density.warmer portion of the fluid usually have lower density and tend to rise above the cooler portion.the reason for the rise of less dense fluids is that gravity pull less on objects that are lower in dense and pulls more on objects of higher density.the sun give us light.the it comes in many electromegnatic waves.we called it radiation.but the all light is not stay in the earth.some light is reflect in earth surface and go in re-radiation.but theres temperature is not equal in the air.theres some air of high density and some low density.the convection formula is a circle formula.in this formula the high density air is come in the down and low density is go up. like that when the air is become heavy it comes down and the low density move up.like this, the air heat the atmosphere.

Sunlight enters our earth environment as radiation of infra light to heat up the troposphere which in turn heat up the atmosphere from the ground level. Light (a form of energy) hits a substance, that substance's particles gain some amount of energy from the light and absorbs heat to radiate in the atmosphere.

Air, as a mostly transparent substance does not absorb much visible light radiation. However, many substances in air absorb light radiation that we can not see (Carbon Dioxide, Methane). However, they re-radiate the energy at a nearly synonymous rate, meaning they really only scatter it, not absorb it. However, air is not entirely transparent and some radiation is absorbed by dust, vapour, and non-transparent gasses.

Light energy from the sun is absorbed mostly by the ground or by things on ground level (water being a big one as it covers so much of the Earth's surface). Whatever EM radiation that does not reflect back out of the atmosphere is transformed to kinetic energy and the temperature rises. This is how radiation is absorbed by the Earth.

The air close to the Earth's surface is heated through conduction (transfer of kinetic energy through particle collision). However, air has a very low density, so it quickly heats up very close to the ground, but cannot conduct the heat quickly (low density means particles are very spaced out. They heat quickly because all the excess energy from a large number of particles from the ground transfers to a small number of air particles. It does not conduct heat well because spaced out particles do not collide very often. When particles do not collide, the kinetic energy does not transfer). At this point the air close to the surface is hot, but higher altitudes are still cold.

Convection works for both gasses and liquids. As the air near the surface heats up, particles collide with more force and so, eventually, push each other farther away, therefore becoming less dense. Colder, denser air sinks to the surface level and the hot air rises higher into the atmosphere. Now the cold air from a higher altitude can begins to heat up, and the hot air now high in the atmosphere slowly cools down. Thus, a cycle is created. We feel this cycle every day in the form of wind. Through convection, the atmosphere is heated evenly.

No. If the air is warmer than the ground any movement of heat by conduction will be from the air to the ground.

How is earth atmosphere warmed evenly?

Energy is transferred between the earths surface and the atmosphere via conduction, convection, and radiation. Conduction is the process by which heat energy is transmitted through contact with neighboring molecules.
