This is true to a certain extent - you can overdo it and tire yourself out if you do too much. However, writing something down is an excellent way to help you remember it.

Try this:

  1. Write an outline in your notebook - use the headings in your textbook or copy whatever outline your teacher gives you. Leave plenty of blank space to add notes later.
  2. Take notes in class - write as sloppy as you want to, paying no attention to correct grammar - then copy this into your notebook neatly.
  3. Make flashcards with the most important information so you can study them easily.
You have now written each bit of information at least three times - you're going to remember those much more easily than if you just read the textbook!

Absolutely! Writing information down and saying it out loud both help you to remember it better. The more times you repeat the information -- either writing or saying -- the better you will remember it, too.

Paying attention means that you see and hear the material more times - the more times you are exposed to it, the better you will remember it. If you listen, you can ask questions when something is confusing, and that will help you learn it better. And finally, anything you do to try to learn more will help you to do better!

Is it true that once you see read something you will remember it?

No, we humans forget a lot of what we read. If we remembering everything that we read just once, our brains would be bursting with information, including a lot of useless stuff.
