No. If the heart ever stops, it means that blood (which carries oxygen) no longer circulates around the body. Without oxygen going to various parts of the body (including the brain which is still working during sleep), you would die.

this is possible due to the fact that heart and respiratory function is controled by the cerebelum. This dorsal part of the brain controls such functions we do not control voluntarily such as movent of your arms of legs.

Maybe you are experiencing some type of nightmare that you are unaware of that causes your sympathetic nervous system to tell your heart to beat faster, therefore increasing the amount of oxygen in your body to use for fleeing.

It could also be linked to asphyxiation due to an obstructed airway, in snoring. Also known as 'sleep apnoea'. The lack of oxygen will cause the heart to beat faster.

If it is a problem to you, get it checked out by a GP.

yes actually it does, depending on how long its been since you have had a 8-12 hour day of sleep, because you have been tired, your heart rate also is depending on, when your tired, you are working, or up on your feet. so yes, expect your heart rate to rise to 83-90 bpm. Normally on a good days rest, you are 60-80 bpm

Unless you're having a nightmare, no. Sleeping is when your heart is at its lowest rate.

No, because if it sops pumping no oxygen will go to your brain and blood will not pump through your body.

Yes. During REM sleep your heart may beat at faster rate. The heart rate may be high enough to cause heart attack in susceptible individuals.
