No it still turns motor over
The 2003 Honda Civic is an interference engine and as such if the belt breaks you will have engine damage. Replace the cam belt every 105,000 miles.
no, it will spin free if the timing belt breaks
Yes. The Zetec dohc engine is a " free wheeling" engine. No damage will result from timing belt breakage. Just replace belt and your good. That should be done by someone familiar with setting up timing.
free info for timing marks
It has a timing chain.
There is no timing belt; the maintenance-free silent chain is used instead.
A 2000 Mazda Protege with 1.8 DOHC engine appears to be a "free-running" engine, meaning there is no valve/piston interference in case the timing belt broke. There is enough clearance between the valve and piston, even if the cam stops (i.e. the timing belt breaks) with the valve fully open. Therefore, the car will not be damaged if the timing belt broke.
If the timing belt brakes on a bravo the engine will be whacked/busted as the Mk1 1.2 Fiat Punto is the only non interferance/ Free wheeling engine Fiat made be warned if in doubt change it out.
The 2.0l VIN K is a free spinning or non interferience engine.
If your timing belt "goes out" that means that it is broken and your engine will not run at all until you have it replaced. If you think it is going bad take the car in to have it checked. a lot of places will do this for free. much better to replace it before it breaks that after.
You can find a free timing belt diagram at your local Kia dealership. You can also get free replacement instructions at your local auto-parts store.
