push the 4X4 button located on the center console If you have a manual transfer case, you have to lock the front hubs, Turn the dials on the front hubs from "FREE" to "LOCK". The manual transfer case is "shift-on-the-fly". This means you can shift between 2HI and 4HI and back while moving. You must be stopped to shift from 4HI to 4LO or from 4LO to 4 HI. With automatic hubs the above answer will work. To disengage the auto hubs take it out of 4 wheel drive and drive in reverse for around 10 feet.
4-wheel drive?
Yes
The 1988 Ford Bronco II does not have a push-button 4WD transmission. Instead, it typically features a manual transfer case lever for engaging four-wheel drive. Some later models and variants may have had electronic engagement options, but the standard setup for the 1988 model relies on a traditional lever system.
If they are the automatic hubs, drive in reverse for about 10 ft. Tranafer case has to be in 2HI(4x4 off).
where may i get a wiering diagram of 1987 bronco11 4 wheel drive touch and go system
Not a Bronco or a Jeep. It is a '75 International Scout II.
If your 1987 Ford Bronco II won't shift into four-wheel drive using the electronic Touch Drive system, the issue could be related to a faulty switch, a malfunctioning actuator, or wiring problems. Start by checking the fuse related to the four-wheel drive system, then inspect the switch and connections for any signs of damage or corrosion. If those components are functioning, the actuator itself may need to be tested or replaced. Consulting a service manual or a professional mechanic can provide further guidance.
Well is it actually engaging into 4WD? If so, then you do simply have a problem with the lights. However, if you don't notice the transfer case engage, you may have a problem with either the push button system or the transfer case itself.
make sure the wheel hubs are locked into place
Hey April==You need to state wheather it is a 2 ot 4 wheel drive. If it is 2 wheel drive, simply remove the caliper first, then remove the spindle nut and pull the rotor off of the car with the hub. If it is a 4 wheel drive, I suggest you get a manual on your truck from Auto Zone for about $18 and it will give you pictures and everything. Goodluck, Joe
There is the FULL SIZE BRONCO and then the Bronco II ( the Bronco II is smaller , eventually replaced by the Ford Explorer)
There is a black box located behind a panel directly behind the driver seat on the side of the vehicle. Push the reset (black) button and release it, a red light should light up then go out. Your 4 wheel drive should lock in, IF it is electric shift.
