Blocked cat convertor or cam sensor. If it is the cam sensor the orange engine light should be on. If there is no engine light on its probably the cat convertor.

Where is the rev counter connected on an astra van?

In an Astra van, the rev counter (tachometer) is typically connected to the engine's electronic control unit (ECU) or directly to the ignition system, depending on the model year. The connection usually involves a wire from the ECU or ignition coil that sends signals reflecting engine RPM. It's advisable to consult the vehicle's service manual for exact wiring diagrams and locations specific to your model.

What is the normal rev counter needle position on 2002 1.6 8v vauxhall astra?

On a 2002 Vauxhall Astra 1.6 8v, the normal rev counter needle position at idle should typically be around 800 to 900 RPM. This position indicates that the engine is running smoothly and efficiently when warmed up. If the needle is significantly below or above this range, it may indicate an issue with the engine's idle speed or tuning. Always refer to the vehicle's manual for specific operating parameters.
