well there is one example i know which is a spring.
Unit of strain energy is newton.meter or joule
strain energy when you let go of the elastic it is transferred as kinetic energy
The energy stored in a compressed spring is called potential energy.
i do know but i dont
when you wind up a clockwork toy, the spring inside of it twists and that called strain energy, then when you let go of the toy the spring unwinds and toy toy moves which is kinetic energy and it may also make a sound as well.
Strain energy is a form of potential energy. Work done to distort an elastic member is stored as strain energy. Some energy may be lost in plastic deformation of the member and some may be converted into heat instead of stored as strain energy, but the rest is recoverable. A spring is an example of a storage device for strain energy.
Potential Elastic Energy.
The expression for the energy density in terms of stress and strain can be expressed as ρe.
The strain theory is a state of deviation from bond angle of a normal tetrahedral angle.
Van der Waals strain is one example
strain is percent elongation/100; for example a strain of 0.02 is 2% elongation. Often we refer to elongation at failure; for example if a material fails at 10% elongation its strain is 0.10
it is called strain energy
Unit of strain energy is newton.meter or joule
Energy stored as a change in shape
strain energy when you let go of the elastic it is transferred as kinetic energy
The energy stored in a compressed spring is called potential energy.
That's because many ways to use energy put a strain on the environment. For example as a result of contamination; or due to the depletion of things like forests (for the wood), etc.
