Daisies, dandelions and roses are examples of plants that depend on insects for pollination.
Grasses are an example of plants that depend on the wind for pollination. In grass, flowers are grouped together in twos and threes forming spikelets. The flowers are small but they have the same basic structure as an insect pollinated flower. They have ovaries, stigmas, stamens and petals.
However, a dandelion is both a wind and insect pollinated flower, depending on its state.
Buttercups, orchids, and sweet peas are common examples of insect-pollinated flowers. The wild buttercup (Ranunculus spp) and the cultivated and the wild orchid (Orchidaceaefamily) represent flowers which accommodate a variety of pollinating insects whereas the sweet pea (Lathyrus odoratus) symbolizes one of the flowers which accepts as insect pollinators only the bee (Apis spp).
Most all flowers are insect pollinated. Bee's account for almost 40% of the pollination of fruits and vegetable's.
