How did 7-11 store come up with its name?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

It was called 7-Eleven in 1946, After the convenience store had been running for 19 years with long hours starting at 7am and closing at 11pm.

You would correctly call it, 7 to Eleven, the hyphen shortens the "to" so that it is written 7-Eleven.

This is Wrong (Because it was founded on July 11) It was in fact founded in 1947, but roots were in an ice cream company and found that the cold helped to preserve foods so they can be made more local and convinient for the customers. link to the detail is here //en.wikipedia.org/wiki/7-Eleven

711 is an old term tied to the 7-11 convenience store chain. It stands for "quickie-mart" kind of store (ref. "the Simpsons"). It is also a winning idea or plan (ref. the dice game craps, where a 7 or 11 on your initial roll is an automatic win).
