Not all power plants are the same, either in purpose or in how they are operated. In the electric utility industry, there are three main types of power plants, categorized according to the functions they perform. Electric utilities really need all three types of generating plants to make sure that they can adequately meet the needs of their customers.

Environmental & Ecological Toxicology along with Environmental Health, is an issue well discused. We need more security and waste manegent to make them a choice of more people.

How is the power factor of an Electrodynamometer type wattmeter improved?

Power Factor of an electrodynamometer can be improved by connecting a large resistor in series with the current coil.

What is the difference between displacement and true power factor?

'Displacement power factor' is the technically-correct term used to describe the cosine of the phase angle (i.e. the angle by which the load current leads or lags the supply voltage) due to the reactance of a load. Usually, when we talk about the 'power factor' of a load, we mean 'displacement power factor'.However, another type of power factor can exist in a circuit, due to the presence of harmonics in the current waveform, due to non-linear loads such as SCR rectifiers. This type of power factor is temed 'distortion power factor', and may be corrected using filters. So, the terms 'displacement' and 'distortion' are used whenever it is necessary to clarify these different types of power factor.

What are the advantages of nuclear power plant?

they provide higher amount of power and electricity than normal power plants.

What is the symbol of power factor?

There is no SI symbol, as such, for power factor. As power factor is the cosine of the phase angle (the angle by which the load current leads or lags the supply voltage), power factor is normally written as 'cos' followed by the lower-case Greek letter we pronounce 'phi' (I've no idea how to type a Greek letter in this answer!).

How long can a power plant last?

Typically about 30 - 50 years, though this can vary depending on the type of plant.
