The most commonly used extension for an HTML document is ".html" but ".htm" is still used (it's a carry-over from the days when Windows would only allow 3 characters in an extension.)
While this is useful for associating the files with registered programs in Windows, the extensions aren't strictly necessary. Browsers render live HTML pages using the information provided by the web server when it sends headers (particularly the MIME type) to determine how the data should be treated. Otherwise, all web addresses would end in ".html"
hello,
i am ansu. i want to know "what extension we want to use for saving HTML document".
html4..
XHTML documents use the same HTML extension. They are similar just are more strict than the former.
The original extension of a HTML page was .htm because of file name restrictions that limited filetype extensions to 3 characters, today you can use 3 or 4 so either .html or .htm is perfectly fine.
HTML stands for Hypertext Markup Language
We write HTML coding in notepad and save it with .html extension. It will automatically open with internet explorer
No, but they work best that way. You can use any extension you'd like to on an HTML file. You just need to be sure that the server is serving the file with the MIME type of "text/html."

The web contains the HTML documents inn abundance. Most of the static pages are made in HTML.
HTML documents are simply plain text on the inside (either ASCII, or UTF-8.) So they're easy to edit and work with. Furthermore, an HTML file can be served from a webserver using any extension you like, provided that the webserver is configured to do so. This is because the browser determines how to treat the file based off the file's MIME (media type) not its extension. You can convert HTML into several different formats using various online conversion tools. (See related links.)
HTML documents are plain-text files, usually encoded in UTF8 format.
A HTML Translator is a tool to translate your HTML documents into other languages.
HTML tags are used to delimit HTML elements inside an HTML document.
The extension for web pages are usually either .htm or it also can be .html as well
When you next try to open them, they will open in a browser by default so that you can see what the page looks like. You can still open them using Notepad to make any changes you want.
