yes, because force is a push or pull, so an example would be that wind (the force) pushed the bike faster toward a building and steered the bike around the building, which causes the bike to change direction. This is an example of velocity too. Velocity is speed in a specific direction.

A force can cause an object to change its speed if it has a component along the same direction with its speed. It can change its direction if it has a component in a different direction from the direction of its speed.

so if a force is

1) parallel to the direction of speed and motion it only changes the speed.

2)If it makes an angle different than 90 degrees with the direction of motion it changes both direction and speed

3) if it is perpendicular(90 degrees) to the direction of motion it only changes the direction of motion and causes the object to make circular motion

What is a force that can cause an object to change its speed and direction?

A basic physics answer for this is that a net force (or unbalanced force) will cause an object to accelerate, that is, cause the object to change its speed and/or direction.

An unbalanced force can cause an object to change its speed and or?

The object will speed up, slow down or change direction. An unbalanced force (net force) acting on an object changes its speed and/or direction of motion. ... If however, the forces are balanced (in equilibrium) and there is no net force, the object will not accelerate and the velocity will remain constant.

What will change if a force pushes an object in the same direction as the object's motion?

It will cause acceleration, and increase its velocity.

Force can change the what an object?

speed it up slow it down and change direction. Forces can: - Cause and acceleration o Speeding up o Slowing down o Change direction - Do nothing - Cause work (w = Fd) - Ie. Change shape

A force can cause an object to change its speed and or direction?

A force can cause an object to change its speed or direction. A force causes acceleration, as given by Newton's equation F=ma, where f is force, m is mass, and a is acceleration. Acceleration occurs when something either changes direction, like a tether ball is accelerating when it goes around the pole, or when the objects speeds up or slows down.Forces give energy to the object it is acting on.The more mass an object has, the harder it is to move, stop, or change the speed or direction of the object. An object will not start moving unless a force acts on it.An object will not stop moving unless a force acts on it.An object will not change speed unless a force acts on it.An object will not change direction unless a force acts on it.unbalanced

Can forces change an object motiin?

Yes, forces can change an object's motion. When a force is applied to an object, it can cause the object to accelerate, decelerate, or change direction. The change in motion is determined by the magnitude and direction of the force applied.

Can a net force act on an object and not cause it to change speed or direction?

No.

What must be applied to an object to change its direction?

Forces cause motion or the change in motion.

How do force affect object?

A force is a push, pull, or dragging on an object that affects its motion. ... The action from a force can cause an object to accelerate, to decelerate, to stop or to change direction.
