Gambling in The Bible

The word "gamble" or "gambling" does not appear in the New International Version Nor the KJV. However, there are Biblical accounts of things like "casting lots' which some historians say was, in some instances, a form of gambling.

It depends on how you define God's ruling. There is nothing in The Bible that says gambling is illegal, but some people believe it is a waste of money, therefore you are being a poor steward of the money God provides for you. The Bible does, depending on your point of view or opinion, provide some guidelines for how to be a good steward of your money.

Depending on a denomination. You do understand that as with each other contradicting category, different denominations are treating different issues differently. I know those who claim that tattoos are a sin, others claim that only tattoos of someone's face are a sin and third denoms say that neither are.

Same with gambling, would you consider a religious Catholic Italian playing on a free slots site a gambler? Technically he is gambling since it's a slot machine and everything but is he spending cash? No. Then how is it different from him playing League of Legends where he spends 5$ each week when they come out with new character?

Is it gambling if it is hurting someone? Is it a sin if it is hurting someone? What of Poker nights for fun? Or even poker nights for real money but with sufficient amount of self-control? What is "wrong"? Could you define it? Could Bible define it?

If you gamble too much and get overly obsessed with it, it can turn into one. That is a spiritual matter that is dictated by your beliefs. In the bible it is a sin
