It's either that your goldfish is full or that it is sick. There is a high possibility that it is going to be full, because lots of people overfeed their fish. If you think your fish just lost its appetite because it is sick, first do a nice water change after checking the water with one of those test kits. maybe adding some aquarium salt could help.

  1. When a goldfish doesn't eat it usually means they are stressed out. Don't feed them for awhile, let them calm down and try feeding them the next day. Goldfish that are new to a tank need some time to get familiar with their new homes; they won't want to eat for awhile either. Goldfish can go several days to over a week without eating so it won't hurt them to skip a day. It is best to not overfeed a goldfish. A feeding schedule of once every 2 to 3 days is best and will keep the goldfish from over-eating, which can lead to all of the problems associated with over-eating in humans. If you continue feeding the fish daily, the only remedy may end with a flush.

If the water temperature in the tank or pond is cold, bellow 55, goldfish don't eat as much because they won't be as active. This is okay as long as the water doesn't get that cold too fast. Goldfish will die if they experience rapid temperature changes.

only feed as much food as a goldfish can eat in 2-3 minutes. (4-7 flakes or pellets per goldfish) remove any food that is not eaten after that time.

Make sure that you are not over-feeding your goldfish, and that the tank water is clean.
It will not hurt your fish to go a day without eating, but if the fish is just hanging around the bottom of the tank looking sad, then you need to do a water change of at least 50% making sure that the new water is the same temperature as the old water, and that you add the recommended dosage of water conditioner per the instructions on the bottle.

Ask a vet; your pet my be very sick, or may just not want to eat. Watch and see how things go for a couple more days; then, if your gold fish still doesn't eat, go to the vet.
